Laced compound folded cover binding based on a 2003 illustration by Gary Frost. Surface gilding on the vellum supports, fore edges gilt with 22 kt gold foil. Cover is a laminate of screen-printed flowers over vintage printed text by Vintage Paper Co, and pink handmade paper by Katie MacGregor. Green Roma endsheets, text sewn with pink thread. Bound 2024.

Virginia Woolf’s Orlando follows the eponymous British aristocrat across three centuries and an abrupt transformation from man to woman. This binding is a mix of vintage and antiquarian techniques and materials. The text on the decorative paper is from a history of England, this page is titled “Before the Restoration.”
