The Maltese Falcon was serialized in the magazine Black Mask in 1929 and first published in book form by Alfred A. Knopf in 1930. The text and title page were downloaded from public domain sources, formatted, and printed by Karen Hanmer Book Arts in 2026 to commemorate the novel’s release from copyright in the United States.
